Waking up With Nicole Lapin

It’s always harder to wake up on Friday eve, right? Stop your kvetching, though, I was up way earlier than you and because I’m so nice, I put together a list of what you missed:

YIKES: Futures down sharply. Dow futures were below fair value for much of the morning following the red from Europe and Asia. Strap in.

BLACK GOLD: NYMEX is around $102; WTI trades above $100 and Brent nears $120 before falling back.

YELLOW GOLD: On the safety trade, Gold and Silver rise.

HIDE: Swiss Franc and Yen benefit from risk aversion trade; Dollar mystifies with a pullback and Treasury prices rise.

SHAKY: NZ kiwi dips after recovering from the earthquake in New Zealand’s second largest city.

FLIGHT: As their stocks continue to get slammed, the airlines are now passing that onto us, yes, even Southwest this time!

CHINIFICATION: China plans to build at least 45 new airports, spending $230 billion on expanding air travel.

PAIN: Protests against the state leaders spill from WI to OH, IN, OK and WV. Gov. Walker is encouraging other GOP govs to follow his lead.

AUSTERITY: Goldman says the GOP plan to cut spending will reduce US growth by 1.5 to 2 percent

BONUS: Wall Street paid 8 percent less in bonuses to NYC securities industry employees in 2010, the average is $128,530.

WINNER: The pentagon will finally decide whether EADS or Boeing will win their $35 billion tanker contract today.

EARNINGS: GM beats on top and bottom lines, Kohl’s in line; Target misses on EPS; Sears beats EPS; RBS swings back to profit in 2010 after huge losses last year.

HUG IT OUT: Obama meets with CEOs again today.
