Pops & Drops: Chesapeake, Hewlett Packard...

Following are moves you might have missed this week. Find out why shares of Chesapeake Energy and the Vix popped while Hewlett Packard and Netflix dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Chesapeake Energy (CHK) popped 15% this week. The company said it’s entertaining ways to unlock value in its rig, trucking and compression businesses, moves some speculate may have been sparked by shareholder Carl Icahn. - Interesting, says Tim Seymour.

Volatility (VIX) popped 12% this week. The Vix surged on Tuesday recording its highest one-day jump since May 20, 2010 despite a later pullback. - I think the Vix pops again next week, says Tim Seymour.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Hewlett Packard (HPQ) dropped 12% this week. The tech titan reported revenue that was lower than expected and trimmed its full-year outlook. - I'm a buyer if it pulls back to $40, says Guy Adami.

Netflix (NFLX) dropped 8% this week. Amazon announced plans to enter the online streaming video market, establishing itself as a direct rival to this company. - I'd stay away and even look to short, says Brian Kelly.

Sears (SHLD) dropped 8% this week. The Street was baffled by the company's decision to appoint someone with limited retail experience as their new CEO. - I'd just stay away, says Karen Finerman.
