Hedge Fund Trade of the Week: RadioShack

Where’s the fast money finding opportunity? In this regular feature Anthony Scaramucci aka The Hedge reveals his latest greatest pick!

This week’s trade is longRadioShack, a retailer with more than 6,500 locations, offering a wide assortment of technology products.
According to the firm’s website, “The Shack sells mobile devices, accessories and services from leading national brands as well as exclusive private brands in an inviting and easy-to-shop environment.”

Check out some of the company’s stats:

RadioShack (RSH)
Sector: Services
Market Cap: $1.5 billion
Industry: Retail technology
Based in; Fort Worth, TX
52-week high: $24
52-week low: $14.28

Anthony Scaramucci tells the desk, “this is a low multiple name that I like a lot. The stock is cheap trading at 8.6 times earnings.”

He also tells the desk the stock was oversold on worries of declining sales. “Radio Shack sells the AT&T iPhone but not the Verizon iPhone. The Street fears weaker sales.”

However Scaramucci isn’t worried. In fact, he thinks RadioShack has a good thing going for it. “95% of America lives within 5 miles of a Radio Shack,” he says. In other words, it's a very convenient place to shop.

"On a stand alone basis I think it’s worth $22," he says.

And as you may know Radio Shack has been the object of takeover chatter for quite some time. "In a takeout it could be worth $25," he says.

Scaramucci isn't the only hedgie who likes this story. Ivory Capital, Tiger and Citadel also hold shares.
