Pops & Drops: Dollar General, Molycorp...

Following are moves you might have missed. Find out why shares of Dollar General and BJspopped while Moody’s dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Dollar General (DG) popped 2%. The company reported earnings more than doubled in Q4 and gave a forecast that exceeded expectations. - I like the chart a lot, says Steve Cortes.

Dollar Thrifty (DTG) popped 3%. The company, which operates the Dollar Rent A Car and Thrifty Car Rental brands, said it expects a strong summer rental season. - Not too shabby, says Stephen Weiss.

BJs Wholesale (BJ) popped 5%. Published reports said private equity firm Leonard Green & Partners was evaluating whether to buy the retailer.

Banco Itau (ITUB) popped 4%. - Based in Sao Paolo, investors may be betting that this bank benefits as investors turn away from the Mideast and toward oil-rich Brazil. - I think this is one of the best banks in the world, says Tim Seymour.

Molycorp (MCP) popped 15%. The CEO said that the company is on track to hit first-quarter sales targets on the back of higher prices. Also, China’s exports of rare earth metals remained low in February. - I'm long and think it makes new highs, says Brian Kelly.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Moodys (MCO) dropped 3%. Evercore downgraded the stock to ‘Equal-Weight’ from ‘Overweight’ after the stock hit the firm’s $33 price target. - I would not buy Moody's, says Joe Terranova.
