The Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act was signed into law by President Obama on July 21, 2010. Authored by Sen . Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), it contains the most sweeping financial reforms since the Great Depression, and its impact has yet to be fully felt. However, with the help of the newly empowered 112th Congress, the financial community is pushing back against many of its provisions.
