Pops & Drops: Micron, F5 Networks...

Following are some of the quarter’s biggest winners and losers. Find out why shares of Micron and Marathon Oil popped while Monster Worldwide and F5 Networks dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Micron (MU) popped 43% over the quarter. At least three brokerages raised their price target on the firm over the quarter citing rising memory prices and improving demand signals. - I'm a buyer with a stop at $11, says Brian Kelly.

Marathon Oil (MRO) popped 44% over the quarter. Lots of upgrades here; UBS upgraded the stock to Buy from Hold and increased its target price to $56 from $49 citing; Goldman Sachs upped its price target to $68 from $58 and Susquehanna started the stock at "positive”. - I like it, says Joe Terranova.

Golar (GLNG) popped 70% over the quarter. Demand for liquefied natural gas supplied by this firm surged after the Japan quake damaged nuclear plants forcing the nation to seek other forms of energy.

Big Lots (BIG) popped 43% for the month. Buzz on the Street suggested private equity might buy the company; then published reports amplified the speculation by adding Big Lots had hired Goldman Sachs to explore strategic options. - If you're pro-risk it's interesting, says Karen Finerman.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Monster Worldwide (MWW) dropped 30% over the quarter. This stock was among the quarter’s worst performers with investors betting employers would remain cautious and not add many jobs. - It's a tough business, says Zach Karabell.

F5 Networks (FFIV) dropped 20% over the quarter. A former high flier, investors worried this stock had become overvalued in the frenzy to play the ‘cloud.’ However, shares remain up 65% over the past 12 months. - It's still a place a lot of people want to live, says Tim Seymour.
