April Trading Volume May Be Weaker than March

You know equity volumeshave been poor, but the sluggish trading levels have spilled into April, which is shaping up to be even weaker than March.

According to KBW, average daily volume in cash equities in April is tracking 10 percent below March. Year-over-year, volume in Q2 so far is tracking 11 percent lower than Q2 last year.

And after record volume in Q1, even options are slowing down: so far in Q2, average daily volume in options is 9 percent lower than Q1, and down 1 percent year-over-year.
