"Execution matters," Cramer said Tuesday. "Decisions made by management can explain why one company succeeds when another very similar company fails."
Take the apparel business, for example. Although Ralph Lauren reported disappointing results last week, the news isn't reason enough to write off every apparel maker, Cramer said. Phillips-Van Heusen , on the other hand, reported a strong quarter after Tuesday's closing bell. The difference, Cramer explained, is how Phillips-Van Heusen executed amidst high cotton costs and a tapped out consumer.
