How Politics Work

Trips to our nation's capital inevitably leave me feeling cynical.

So here's the cynical thought my latest trip inspired.

We have two parties in Washington. One is dedicated to subsidizing business under the guise of regulating it. The other is dedicated to undermining the regulating part of that equation, while leaving the subsidizing part largely untouched.

This means that any measure that subsidizes without regulating will enjoy bipartisan support. That is what is known as "moderation."
