Pops & Drops: Rite Aid, Ford, Callaway Golf and More

Following are moves you may have missed. Find out why shares of Rite Aid and Ford popped while Callaway Golf dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Rite Aid (RAD) popped 6%. Revenues at same store sales rose 1.8% from the prior-year period in the four weeks ending June 25. Brian Kelly said this stock has had a good run. He would take profits.

Worthington Industries (WOR) popped 10%. The company reported quarterly results that beat analysts’ estimates on strong demand for steel. Joe Terranova prefers Steel Dynamics(STLD) in this space.

Ford Motor (F) popped 3%. Analysts are projecting the US automaker gained market share in June. Jon Najarian thinks this stock could move back up and test $15 on this move.

News Corp (NWSA) popped 2%. The media conglomerate sold MySpace for about $35 million to online advertising company Specific Media, but will retain a minority stake in the social media site. News Corp paid $580 million for the website six years ago. It’s a good company but I think it’s looking fairly priced here, Mike Khouw said.

Joy Global (JOYG) popped 6%. The mining manufacturer recently announced it purchased LeTourneau Technologies from Rowan Companies. I like this name here I would continue to own it, Brian Kelly said.

Caterpillar (CAT) popped 3%. CAT announced plans to create 200 jobs. There was a sell-off and there is a nice bounce now, and it looks like it wants to go north of $110, Guy Adami said.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Callaway Golf (ELY) dropped 2%. The golf gear maker forecast weak second-quarter results and said it will cut jobs. CEO George Fellows also announced he would resign. There’s big short interest here, they’ll probably lean on it tomorrow, Guy Adami said.
