Transocean (RIG) popped 6%. The company said demand for older rigs it is trying to sell has started to improve. – A good day, says Karen Finerman.
Bunge (BG) popped 4%. According to Pete Najarian the move may be related to recent options action. "A lot of activity in the January 75 calls," he says, "they're looking for the stock to rebound."
Exxon Mobil (XOM) popped 3%. Despite troubles at a California refinery, the company said it would continue to operate and meet obligations. – I like Exxon as a long term trade, says Tim Seymour.
Six Flags Entertainment (SIX) popped 8%. With the stock sharply lower over the past 5 sessions, perhaps investors thought it was oversold.
MGM Resorts (MGM) popped 5%. Perhaps investors are betting that a slower economy won’t dent the bottom line quite as badly as previously feared.
Boeing (BA) popped 4%. China will need 5,000 commercial aircraft worth $600 billion over the next 20 years, a senior Boeing executive forecast on Wednesday, a 25 percent increase on the company's previous estimate.
DROPS (stocks that slid lower)
Darden (DRI) dropped 4%. The parent of Red Lobster and Olive Garden, reduced earnings estimates, citing lower sales due to Hurricane Irene. Also, the company forecast full-year earnings per share growth from continuing operations toward the lower end of its previously announced range of 12 to 15 percent.
