More Fed Easing Won't Boost Economy Much: Hatzius

TheFederal Reserveis likely to unveil a plan for additional easing at its two-day meeting later this month, "most likely through something that has been called the twist," Jan Hatzius, chief economist at Goldman Sachs , told CNBC Thursday.

Although a third round of quantitative easing would have some positive impact, it would only amount to "a few-tenths of a percentage point on [gross domestic product] growth—nothing really dramatic," he explained."

Hatzius was the first to call for Operation Twist—the purchase of longer-dated Treasurys and simultaneous sale of short-dated Treasurys—after Friday's dismal jobs report.
