The Pony Economy: What Happens When the Cash Runs Out

We’ve been searching for a pony — a bright side — in here somewhere for a few years now, as the name of this blog implies. Finally, we found the pony!

We’ve found all kinds of cool stuff, from lobster at lunchmeat pricesto a man who created his own job, mid-recession, wearing T-shirts for a living.

But now, we’ve found an actual pony — not just a figurative one.

The Park Auto Mallin Pinellas Park, Fla., is taking the concept of “trade-in” to a whole new level.

“We’ll take anything on trade, from a house to a mobile home … from an RV to an aircraft … and recently, a horse!” Park Auto Mall employees Jeanne and Katie explained in a recent Youtube video.

That’s right, when a woman walked in recently needing a vehicle for her large family, and she didn't have any cash, they took her horse, Dallas, on trade.

It’s a little unnerving that the economy has rolled back so far we’re now back to the barter system, but at the same time, it’s a bit of a relief — we’ve finally found the pony in here somewhere!

Nehheheheheheh.
