Bad news on the banking front from The Wall Street Journal, which reports that smaller banks cut more than 2,700 jobs in the third quarter.

Want to start a business even in this tough economy? USA Today offers some inspiration, and some people who are doing it.

Apparently, there are a lot of people out there who are just as optimistic as those folks profiled in USA Today. BusinessNewsDaily reports that a survey of small business owners by Hiscox, an insurance provider, found that even though 57 percent of small businesses in the U.S. reported no revenue growth in the last year, 47 percent of respondents are optimistic heading into 2012.
