Pros Call Microsoft a Buy Despite Outlook

“Fast Money” pros were upbeat on Microsoft despite one analyst’s lukewarm outlook.

“I really think it’s fine,” trader Guy Adami said Tuesday. “Given the stock was up a percent on a day that the broader market had problems, I think that’s a bit of a tell.”

Microsoft stock closed up 25 cents at $25.76 per share.

Earlier, Ticonderoga Securities analyst Neil Herman sounded a dour note on the Redmond, Wash.-based company.

“What benefits Microsoft the most is lower PC prices. Lower PC prices drive more unit shipments, which drives revenue for Microsoft,” he said. “So, given the shortage of hard drives, it looks like that curve is not in place today and that has negative impact, in our view on Microsoft.”

The shortage of hard drives earlier this week led Intel to cut its fourth-quarter forecast.

That outlook wasn’t enough to scare off trader Karen Finerman, who said she liked the company’s cash reserves and that it pays a dividend.

“I like it here, I agree with Guy — cheap to own,” she said.
