Charles Coleman (via Tiger Global)

Coleman began his career as an investment analyst at Tiger Management, the hedge fund run by industry legend Julian Robertson. He launched Tiger Global in 2001 after Robertson closed Tiger Management the previous year. Starting out with seed funding from Robertson, Coleman has gone on to build Tiger Global into a $10 billion firm, partly by investing in Internet companies before they go public, including Facebook and Zynga. He's also one of several so-called "Tiger Cubs"—former Robertson protgs who have gone on to create leading hedge funds.

Coleman is a descendant of Peter Stuyvesant, the last Dutch governor of New Amsterdam and—appropriately enough—the builder of the protective wall on Wall Street.

Born: CA, 1975
Lives: New York

Relationship to Facebook

For his Facebook investment, Coleman created Tiger Global FB Partners, a specially formed vehicle registered as a venture capital fund. With a 2.8-percent stake in Facebook, his post-IPO share will be worth approximately $1.9 billion. Finally, a break for the 1 percent.
