Apple Maps, released Wednesday as part of the iO6 rollout, is getting slammed by users as being, well, not Google Maps.
Apple's new mapping system replaced Google Maps on the company's latest operating system software upgrade, but so far users are claiming the maps system is inaccurate and not as useful as its predecessor.
One of the biggest complaints among users is that it doesn't yield search results accurately. Users are finding that when they search for a store, train station, or other specific spot the results are showing the searched location in an entirely different place than its actual address.
Some users took to Twitter to vent their frustration with the maps flaws and a Tumblr site saracastically entitled"The Amazing iOS 6 Maps" was even made to mock Apple's map system. It features screen shots of inaccurate search results of locations on Apple Maps.
Apple's iPhone 5, which hit store shelves in Asia on Friday, will have the new mapping system. In fact, all of Apple's version of the iPhone after and including the iPhone 3GS, are compatible with the new software update.
In a statement, Apple said: "We launched this new map service knowing that it is a major initiative and we are just getting started with it. We are continuously improving it, and as Maps is a cloud-based solution, the more people use it, the better it will get."
