James Breyer is passionate about investing, social entrepreneurship and venture philanthropy, and actively supports numerous educational and environmental non-profit initiatives. He is also a fellow of the Harvard Corporation, Harvard University's senior governing board.

Breyer is the founder/CEO of Breyer Capital, an innovative investment and venture philanthropy firm, and a partner at Accel Partners, a leading venture capital firm. He has been an investor in over 30 consumer internet, media, and technology companies that have completed public offerings or successful mergers. Several of these investments have returned over 100 times their cost and many more have returned over 25 times their cost to investors. Breyer led Accel's investment in Facebook in 2005 and served on the Board of Directors from 2005 until 2013. Breyer also previously served on the boards of Wal-Mart, Dell Inc., 21st Century Fox, Marvel Entertainment, Brightcove and Model N. He is currently the lead or co-lead investor in and a director of privately held companies including Etsy, Circle Financial and Legendary Entertainment.

Breyer is co-founder and on the Strategic Investment Committee and Board of Directors of IDG-Accel China Funds and co-founder of Accel-KKR where he serves on the Board. Additionally, Breyer Capital is a limited partner in IDG China Venture Capital Fund IV, a tech venture capital fund focused on making early-stage technology, media and telecom investments in China and he plays a leading strategic advisory role in the fund.

In 2013, 2012 and 2011, Forbes ranked Breyer #1 in its Midas List of top technology investors. Fortune also named Jim the smartest investor in technology and one of the 10 smartest people in the technology industry.

He graduated with Distinction from Stanford University with a BS degree and from Harvard University with an MBA degree, where he was named a Baker Scholar.
