Dr. Jason M. Ruckert serves as vice chancellor and chief digital learning officer and is responsible for the overall strategy as well as the development, delivery and quality control of online education at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He is accountable for the strategy, growth and effectiveness of all online courses, utilized by more than 130 branch campuses, two residential campuses and 24,000 students.
In addition, Dr. Ruckert serves as second in command for the Worldwide Campus and assists the chancellor by providing leadership and assistance to the academic colleges and administrative units within the campus for all learning modalities. He also provides direct leadership and oversight of the following departmental units: Academic Technology, Academic Advisement, Rothwell Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence, Faculty Quality Control and Instructional Design and Development (currently 98 staff members).
Dr. Ruckert is recognized as an innovator and leader in technology-enhanced education. His team received the No. 1 ranking from U.S. News and World Report for online bachelor's degrees in 2016, 2017 and 2019 and have been the only institution in the nation to remain in the top 5 for the last six years. His team was also first in the nation to receive the UPCEA Hallmarks of Excellence in Online Leadership designation among many other notable recognitions. Dr. Ruckert is honored to be a Fellow and advisory board member in multiple organizations, including Fellow, Royal Aeronautical Society; Fellow, RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce); chair, WCET steering committee and executive council member; advisory board member, UPCEA National Council for Online Education- Chair of Quality Standards; advisory board member, USDLA (United States Distance Learning Association) and Technology Executive Council, CNBC.
In addition to administrative duties, Dr. Ruckert is a full-time faculty member in the College of Business. He holds a Ph.D. in leadership and education from Barry University, with a specialization in higher education administration. Research interests include online education, digital innovation, technology and student retention to name a few.
