Joseph LaVorgna is a Managing Director who serves as the Chief Economist for the Americas at Natixis. He is in charge of leading the firm's economic research effort in the region and managing a team of economists that analyze trends in the equity, fixed income, foreign exchange and commodity markets.
Joe has 25 years of financial services experience and joined Natixis after working at Deutsche Bank for 20 years where he was the firm's Chief US Economist. During that time, he was one of the leading forecasters on Wall Street. He was ranked as a top economist in the prestigious Institutional Investors' All-Star Fixed Income Survey from 2010 to 2017, finishing #1 on two occasions and #2 in 2015.
At Natixis, Joe publishes the widely disseminated US Snap Chart as well as the bi-monthly US Macro Insights. Joe is also a contributing opinion writer for The Hill which is the most followed political website by US lawmakers. In 2013, the nationally recognized Appions marketing company rated Joe the second most influential economist on Wall Street.
Joe began his professional career at the New York Federal Reserve Bank, where he was an economist working for the Monetary Analysis & Projections Staff, an arm to the Open Market Desk. He had worked at Lehman Brothers as a senior economist in the fixed income department prior to joining Deutsche Bank.
