Radha Swaminathan is executive vice president and chief customer, strategy and technology officer for American Water, the largest publicly traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company. It employs more than 7,100 professionals who provide regulated and market-based drinking water, wastewater and other related services to more than 14 million people in 46 states and Ontario, Canada.

In this role, Swaminathan is responsible for leading the company's technology and innovation, customer service organization and strategy efforts, which are helping to support the business in achieving growth and operational efficiency, as well as improving overall customer satisfaction and the customer experience.

Prior to joining American Water, Swaminathan served as vice president and chief technology officer at WIPRO Technologies, a global information technology, consulting and business-process services company headquartered in Bangalore, India, where he had leadership responsibility for future industry blueprints, customer and technology co-innovation, product and services development and strategic alliances.

Previously, Swaminathan was the director, smart grid technologies for Florida Power & Light and NextEra Energy, where he spearheaded the business and technology efforts for Florida's largest investor-owned electric utility, including the development and deployment of "smart grid" technology, establishing FP&L as a leader in this area. During his 12 years at Florida Power & Light, Swaminathan was awarded multiple patents in areas covering AMI and for creating customer profiles based on their history of service and methods for predicting customer satisfaction.

Swaminathan earned a master of science and a master of philosophy in mathematics from the University of Madras in India.
