Satpal Brainch is President of CNBC Business News Worldwide based at CNBC Global headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, N.J. and responsible for various functions including business development, events, strategic content and technical operations with a shared responsibility around editorial functions. Broadly, this role is aimed at centralizing, streamlining and integrating the network's current and future commercial pursuits across media and around the world. He was appointed to the role in November 2018.
Brainch was previously at NBCUniversal International as Managing Director of Distribution & Networks, EMEA, where he led the company's television business across the region with oversight of both content distribution and channels. Before that, Brainch was Executive Vice President and Managing Director, NBCUniversal International Networks. In this role, he was responsible for the overall strategy of the networks' business, overseeing affiliate sales, ad sales, programming and strategic operations across the channels' portfolio of NBCUniversal International including Universal Channel, E! Entertainment Television, Syfy, 13th Street, Diva and Studio Universal, among others.
Prior to his appointment to the NBCU International Networks, Brainch held various positions at CNBC beginning his career with the network in March 2007 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, based in the U.S. In June 2009, he was named President and Managing Director of CNBC in Asia Pacific, based in Singapore. Brainch was later appointed President and Managing Director of CNBC International, responsible for managing CNBC's assets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and the Asia Pacific region.
Before joining CNBC, Brainch served as the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis for the Television Group at NBCUniversal from June 2006 to March 2007. He started his career at GE Finance where he spent seven years in a number of different roles.
Brainch holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a focus on finance and marketing from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He is married with two children.
