Stephen King, global economist at HSBC, told CNBC, "it is very important to stress that if rates go up, they go up for a good reason rather than a bad reason and the peculiarity of making a commitment to keeping rates as low as they are today until 2014 is that you are effectively saying there is no growth, there is no recovery, this is like Japan."
