Can digital pills help dent the opioid epidemic?

Opioid addiction often starts with a prescription for pain pills. But once patients leave their doctor’s office, there’s no way for their physician to know how quickly they’re taking their medicine. A new study shows that digital pills – the first of which was just approved by the FDA, for another indication – may help, by allowing clinicians to remotely monitor opioid use.
