Why China's military won't intervene in Hong Kong's unrest

A Chinese military intervention in Hong Kong would be "extremely difficult and very messy," and would be the "complete end" of the city "as we know it," says Fraser Howie, an independent analyst. He also says Hong Kong's society is almost permanently fractured, but its position as a financial hub could still continue for a long time.
