How Costco grew a "members-only" empire
Unlike many retailers, Costco has seen its sales grow during some quarters in 2020. Between its rotating inventory and impressively low prices, the store is a family favorite, and its business model is rather resilient: it boasts more than 55 million members worldwide and a 90 percent renewal rate on memberships. The massive members-only retailer uniquely charges customers to shop in its store, and members seem happy to do so. The question remains, however: how long can it last?
