Manhattan real estate brokers see positive signs of recovery

New rentals in Manhattan soared for the first time since the pandemic in October, jumping 33%. Lower rents are finally bringing people back to the city, as prices fell 16% over last year. Caution is advised: there are still a record number of empty rentals and sales inventory, and the state and city budget holes aren’t going away, with the prospect of higher taxes looming over buyers.
