Who controls the National Guard

The National Guard is a unique body that reports to the governor of a state, but may also be called upon for federal responsibilities. Service members have three roles, referred to as State Active Duty, Title 32 Duty and Title 10 Duty, each with a different set of responsibilities and chain of command.
