Investors are holding their breath as a highly anticipated IPO comes to market this week. The results could speak volumes.
We’re talking about the IPO of CBOE the country's largest options exchange and the last major U.S. exchange to go public.
How well it's received will likely be interpreted as an important signal by Wall Street.
CBOE is scheduled to start trading on Tuesday. If its shares don't do well, that could wreak havoc on the other IPOs coming to market this week.
"You can bet that if CBOE doesn't work, the other(s) are history," says Scott Sweet of IPO Boutique.
Although demand is expected to be strong, the Street is jittery nonetheless.
Investors have pushed back against IPO prices this year with 50% of the IPOs in 2010 priced below expectations, according to Renaissance Capital.
CBOE expects to offer shares for $27 to $29 to initial investors, potentially raising as much as $339.3 million.

CBOE rivals are trading near 52-week highs on a belief that fin reg will require increased transparency and - as a result - be a boon for exchnages, explains Tim Seymour. I'd think the same should be true here.
