Million Dollar Portfolio Challenge

Once you have setup your portfolios, it is time to make your stock purchases. The Portfolio Manager will allow you to view and navigate to your portfolios and once you own stocks, their total value and the gain/loss for each portfolio and its game rank will be displayed.  If you did not refer all of your friends during registration, there is also a link on this page for you to send out invitations and gain bonus bucks.

The first time you access a new portfolio, you will be taken directly to the Manage My Stocks page where you can add a stock symbol. If you do not know the symbol, click on the symbol lookup link. To find out more background on your company, click on the Investing Tools link to go to .

Once you’ve entered a symbol, click or tab out of the symbol text box and it will validate whether or not the symbol is eligible for the contest. If you’ve entered a valid symbol, you will see the company name appear next to the symbol, the Intraday price will populate and the symbol entry box will disappear. You can now move the slider to allocate a percentage of your total stock portfolio to this holding. The maximum percentage you can allocate to any holding at the time of purchase is 25%.

For example: Enter GE in the symbol text box and then move the slider to 15%. This means that 15% of your stock portfolio will be allocated to GE when the order is processed that night. Because it’s your first purchase and your stock portfolio is worth $900,000, 15% will be $135,000 worth of GE shares based on the current day’s closing price.




To add another symbol click on the “Add Another New Symbol” link. A symbol entry box will appear and you will be able to input a new symbol and following the same steps outlined above.

After you have entered all the symbols that you want to purchase, you should click on the “Close and Continue” button to take you to your holdings page to see the allocations you’ve made. Your new allocations will be in pending status until they are processed that night after the close. You will also notice a message at the bottom of the screen letting you know that your new allocations have been saved.

Now that you have holdings you will be taken directly to this page the next time you enter your portfolio.  To return to the Manage My Stocks page click the “Manage My Stocks” button.

You can also view your pending orders on the “Stock Orders” page. On this page you will be able to view the estimated number of shares that will be purchased based on the current price. You can also reprioritize your new orders to have them processed in the order you want. Sells will be executed and bonus bucks will be added to your stock portfolio total before buys are executed to ensure that the maximum amount of cash is available for your new purchases.

After clicking the “Change Priority” button, you will notice an icon to the right of the estimated shares that you can grab and move up or down. Just click the “Save and Continue” button once your new allocations are in the order that want. A message stating that you’re changes have been saved will be displayed.

*Note that you can only make changes to the prioritization up until 4:00pm.




To modify your allocations, click the Edit button on the “Manage My Stocks” page and set the slider to the desired allocation. Pull the slider to the left until you reach 0% allocation or click on the red X button to sell out of a holding completely.

View your historical transactions on the Stock Transaction History page, you can navigate via the drop down by week, or be clicking on the arrows next to the date to advance or go back to previous weeks.
