Graham Mackay, chairman and former chief executive of SABMiller and one of the FTSE100's longest-serving leaders, died on Wednesday after a battle with cancer. He was 64.

The board said on Wednesday it had appointed acting chairman John Manser as chairman and had also appointed Guy Elliott as senior independent director in succession to Manser.

In 2010, Mackay was named Business Leader of the Year at the CNBC European Business Leaders Awards. He was acknowledged by the judges for doing an "amazing job" at SABMiller and for his "outstanding" leadership and performance.
