Amazon's drone delivery may have got more publicity - but Deutsche Post DHL have also been trialing unmanned aircraft to deliver packages to your front door.

Frank Appel, chief executive of Deutsche Post DHL, told CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the main obstruction to drone delivery was now governments.

"If governments will allow it - that's the challenge," he said. "In Germany, they are quite conservative, but we operate in many other countries.and territories."

The Germany-based company tested out their delivery drones in December last year, just after the much-publicized trial by Amazon.

Use of the machines could revolutionize the e-commerce industry by shortening the length of time between customer orders and deliveries.
