The MacBook Air just got a lot cheaper and efficient. On Tuesday, Apple announced that its ultra-slim notebooks would cost $100 less and boast the latest version of Intel's Haswell processor.
That means Apple fanboys and girls can grab a MacBook Air for $899. Not bad if you're looking for a lighter, cheaper alternative to the MacBook Pro, which starts at $1,199. (Plus $100 more if you want that Retina display).

That $899 price tag is for the 11-inch MacBook Air with 128 GB of flash storage. The top-of-the-line version, featuring a 13-inch screen and 256 GB of flash storage, starts at $1,199.
Intel's latest Haswell processor does offer a boost in speed. Its main advantage, however, is how it conserves power. The 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air notebooks offer 9 and 12 hours of battery life, respectively.

All of them run Apple's OS X operating system. Will the new MacBook Air get a fancy Pixies-led ad campaign like the iPhone 5s? Meh, probably not. Just read this article while listening to "Surfer Rosa" and you should get the same effect.
The new, less expensive MacBook Air lineup is available now online and in stores.
