Beer brewed from ancient whale fossil. Really.

Craft beer is hot for novelty, and when it comes to ideas about new beer there's certainly no messing around, no matter how crazy they are.

Bone Dusters Paleo Ale, a collaboration between amateur fossil hunter Jason Osborne of Paleo Quest, a nonprofit paleontology and geology advocacy group, and Jasper Akerboom, microbiologist for Lost Rhino Brewing in Ashburn, VA, uses yeast scraped from a 35-million-year-old whale fossil in its recipe, according to NPR's The Salt.

Some express doubt over whether the scraped yeast is a product of contamination from human or natural sources, but remain impressed with the Belgian-style amber's taste.
