Since 1675, 15 generations have succeeded William Lea to grow this business from its humble milling roots in Cheshire, England, to today's company, which was founded in the 1940s, employs 370 people and reported a turnover of £146 million in 2014.

Mornflake produces a range of oat based products including muesli, granola and porridge, and exports all over the world.

"We can trace our milling roots right back to 1675, when my ancestor William Lea started milling at Swettenham Mill, South Cheshire," John Lea, Managing Director of Mornflake, told CNBC.com over email.

The company also counts over 50 awards recognizing its products' quality, consistency and purity, including more than 30 Monde Selection International Grand Medailles D'Or (Gold medals) and a Queen's Award for Export and Achievement.

"Today we are still keeping up the family tradition after 15 generations as independent British millers. We believe in selecting and milling only the finest grain and in using the techniques and time honored traditions that we've passed down from generation to generation," Lea added.
