Americans want answers to these questions the most

Ask.com's analysis of this year's trending questions revealed that Americans were most interested in Ebola, Israel and Renee Zellweger's face.

The top news search of the year concerned the virus outbreak, with the question "what are the symptoms of Ebola?" the most asked question in relation to general news, according a report released on Monday.

ISIS, Malaysia Airlines, Ice Bucket Challenge and Ferguson rounded out the top five for most-searched news terms.

Ask.com users were also curious about rising political tensions in the Middle East.

The question "what is happening between Israel and Hamas?" was the most asked question in relation to politics. Israel, Ukraine and Indian Election ranked highest among political searches.

Turning to entertainment news, questions such as "what happened to Renee Zellweger's face?" and "when is Derek Jeter's last game?" saw huge spikes in volume this year.

Questions related to the death of Robin Williams, Jennifer Lawrence's leaked nude photos and Jay-Z were among the top celebrity and entertainment search terms. Joan Rivers, Kim Kardashian and Ray Rice also trended this year.

"Every year, millions of people come to Ask to get answers, and learn new things," Ask's Valerie Combs said in a press release. "As a result, we get unique insight into not only what is resonating with millions of consumers today, but how that might evolve in the year ahead."

Looking forward, the website predicted that " 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' is canceled after its 10th season" would be among the top headline of 2015.

"Stephen Colbert is crowned king of the late-night talk show wars" and "personal robots will sell twice as many models in 2015 than were sold in 2014" were also among the top predicted headlines.

Formally known was Ask Jeeves, the platform was founded in 1996 to provide online searchers with answers to everyday questions. The site, which was acquired by IACI in 2005, has more than 100 million global monthly users.
