Think becoming an online sensation is easy? Well, you would be mistaken, YouTube star Justine Ezarik, better known as iJustine, said Thursday.

"It is a lot of work. People think that you just turn on a camera and you post videos to YouTube. If that was the case, I'd be so excited because it is a nonstop, 24/7 thing," Ezarik said on CNBC's "Squawk Alley."

She added that, much like being an actress or a politician, she has to be very careful with how she connects with her audience. "It takes me literally 20 minutes to write 140 characters just to make sure everything's going to be all right.

Ezarik posts videos on a slew of different topics, including technology. She solidified her status as a YouTube personality after posting a video about receiving a 300-page phone bill after using the original iPhone for one month.
