Four ways to play defense in a falling market

Markets are falling worldwide. The German and Chinese stock indexes are down double digits from recent highs weeks ago and the S&P 500, now negative on the year, is off 6 percent over the past month.

CNBC Pro asked some experts if the market would continue to sell-off and what to if it did.

Here are the four ways they recommended playing defense:

1) Be patient:
