Alphabet's Google hasn't given up on Glass yet. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently granted the tech behemoth the opportunity to redesign its much-maligned wearable.
The drawings on the patent application portray the device as a monocle that adjusts and wraps around just one side of a user's head. The patent was filed in September 2012 and granted last week.
This version is smaller than the first version of Glass that was unveiled in 2012.

After consumers voiced concerns over privacy and the device was met with a lack of consumer interest, Google discontinued selling the first version earlier this year.
Google did not immediately return a request for a comment.
