In social media, there's big, there's really big ... and there's getting called to the Vatican to meet Pope Francis.

Instagram founder Kevin Systrom had an audience with the pontiff on Friday to talk about the impact of digital imagery, Time magazine reported.

The magazine said Systrom brought a book of 10 curated Instagram images for the pope, including pictures of the European refugee crisis and from last year's Nepal earthquake.

Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 billion in early 2012. Analysts estimate the photo platform is now worth many orders of magnitude more.
