The Dow transports were up more than half a percent Tuesday, with Avis Budget Group leading the index higher.
Transports were on track for their best trading day since April 13, when they gained 2.6 percent. Avis shares led the advancers, gaining nearly 4 percent.
Transports have rebounded nicely after a dismal start to 2016. Since hitting its January low, the index has gained nearly 17 percent.
