Donald Trump may have found a 'yuge' tax loophole

No one should be surprised if Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump paid zero federal income taxes in some years, New York Times columnist James Stewart said on Thursday.

In the column, Stewart said that after speaking to real estate and tax professionals in recent weeks, it appeared Trump could have used generous federal tax breaks for developers to reduce his reported income to either near zero or a loss.

The Trump campaign didn't respond to requests for comment, the column said.

Trump has claimed in the past that highly paid executives "get away with murder" on their taxes, the column said, noting that the Republican candidate hasn't released his returns.
