Ford CEO says Trump's claims are 'absolutely not' true

Ford CEO Mark Fields told CNN that Donald Trump's claims about the automaker are "absolutely not" true.

"It's really unfortunate when politics gets in the way of facts and the facts are Ford's investment in the U.S. and commitment to American jobs has never been stronger," Fields said on Thursday.

Ford's small-car production will be relocated from U.S. manufacturing plants to Mexico over the next two to three years, Fields said at the automaker's investor conference on Wednesday. The GOP presidential nominee called it another example of companies taking jobs away from Americans.

"To think that Ford is moving its small-car division is a disgrace. It's disgraceful. It's disgraceful that our politicians allow them to get away with it," Trump said in a speech at the Economic Club of New York on Thursday.

When CNN asked whether Ford would be cutting any U.S. jobs as a result of this decision, Fields said, "Absolutely not. Zero."
