Elon Musk: 'Hoping to start" awaited Autopilot update next week

Elon Musk says he hopes Tesla will roll out the new update to it Autopilot feature on Wednesday.

Responding to users on Twitter, Musk said, "Hoping to start WW rollout of 8.0 on Wednesday if no last minute issues discovered."

Tesla gave the details of the upgrade in a blog post on Sept. 11. The company said in the post that the most significant change will be greater use of onboard radar.

That same day, Musk said in a call with reporters that the pending updates "very likely," though not certainly, could have prevented the fatal crash in Florida on May 7 that increased criticism of the system.
