European banks finished the week up 2.38 percent Friday, making it the index's best week in a month, back to September 2 when it gained 6.1 percent.
Several U.S.-traded shares of the index's biggest bank stocks also traded higher this week. Deutsche Bank was trading more than 4 percent higher on the week. UBS and Barclays shares were also trading to the upside, above 2 percent and 3 percent, respectively.
The FTSE 100 index finished the week up 2.1 percent, and the FTSE 250 index ended the week up 0.69 percent.
