How winning changes everything

Created for T-Mobile.

In April of 2016, Patrick LaMear attended iCONIC: Seattle, the first stop on the 2016 iCONIC tour. iCONIC is a joint creation of CNBC and Inc., which draws together some of the most enterprising small businesses in the nation. In addition to networking and hearing from some of the country's most successful entrepreneurs, LaMear was thrilled to learn his company had been selected as the winner of T-Mobile's Un-leash your Business contest. LaMear is the founder of Urban Reclamations, a company that creates custom furniture from reclaimed wood. His business was about to be injected with a full T-Mobile business package that would enhance productivity and communication, including ten devices, and international access to the network.

We caught up with LaMear at the final stop on the 2016 iCONIC tour in Boston, and asked about his experience. In the six months since winning in Seattle, LaMear saw a definite impact. "We put them to use right out of the gate," he said. "The area of improvement for us - ROI, if you will - has been less time for me on the road." The prize has even allowed him to set his sights globally. "We're bidding a hotel in Paris. I mean, that's pretty cool! It's broadened our exposure really around the United States and, of course, internationally, as well."
