The bill forbids buyers and sellers from giving or accepting cash payments of more than a half million pesos for real-estate purchases.

It also forbids cash purchases of more than 200,000 pesos for automobiles or items like jewelry and lottery tickets.

  • MEXICO CITY-- Mexico's state-owned oil company reports it has found possible reserves of as much as 125 million barrels of oil at a deep-water well in the Gulf of Mexico. It notes that if proven, that would double Mexico's current proven reserves. President Felipe Calderon announced the discovery Friday.
