Ala. gov to give retirement incentive plan details

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley is expected to hold a news conference to provide details of a proposed voluntary retirement incentive program for state employees.

The governor has scheduled a news conference for 2 p.m. Monday in Huntsville to explain how the program would work if approved by the Legislature. Expected to join the governor at the news conference are House Speaker Mike Hubbard of Auburn, Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh of Anniston and Republican Rep. Mac McCutcheon of Capshaw.

A news release from the governor's office said the program would be offered to qualified state employees who are eligible for retirement at the time the plan is approved by legislators.

The news conference will be at the Mark C. Smith Library at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology in Huntsville.
