The Walking Dead

If you're as much of a fan as I am of both good infographics and "The Walking Dead," you'll love the National Post's "Stopping the Dead" feature.

A few points jumped out to me:

  • Handguns are absolutely the dominant method for killing zombies. They are responsible for killing 113 zombies across the show's two-and-a-half seasons.
  • Shotguns were a favorite tool for the zombie slayers. But they've gone out of fashion. Not one kill in the recent half-season.
  • The crew is getting more comfortable with knives. No one killed a zombie with a knife the first season. Now these are a regular weapon of choice. Hammers, pipes and pry-bars are also popular. Getting up close and personal with zombies just isn't as scary as it once was.

One thing I would have like to see compiled is the gender breakdown of the zombies killed. Is there a balance between men and women killed? Has it been shifting?

(Hat tip to Mike Dwyer at League of Ordinary Gentlemen.)
