Better Bet in 2013: Apple or Yahoo?

With strong performance over the past year, shares of both Apple and Yahoo appear to offer continued growth, but the "Fast Money" pros said Monday that one stock was better than the other.

StockMonster's Guy Adami said Yahoo had greater potential.

"I think in percentage terms, and I can only sort of go out for the next couple of months, I think Yahoo is going to be the big winner," he said. "I think if you want beta for this year, Yahoo's goingn to be the name to own."

Brian Kelly of Shelter Harbor Capital said that Apple was a known quantity, citing the amorphous and as-yet unannounced Apple TV as the company's biggest growth driver.

"I think Yahoo certainly has more the element to surprise in 2013 than Apple does. We kind of know what Apple does," he said. "I'd put my money there for the year."

Stuart Frankel's Steve Grasso made it a trifecta, selecting Yahoo as well.

Grasso called it both a momentum play as well as a technical play, noting that the stock would face "choppy waters" around the $21 price point.

Grasso suggested exiting the trade below $19.20 per share, looking for a re-entry point around $18.
